Xverse now supports Lightning Network payments through a partnership with Sati. Lightning functionality is accessed from within the Xverse web wallet, while Lightning balances are managed by Sati to enable fast, low-cost payments. Your main Bitcoin wallet in Xverse remains fully self-custodial at all times.
Every Xverse user can access Lightning payments directly from within the Xverse web wallet.
Xverse x Sati: Bringing Lightning to the Xverse Wallet
We’ve launched Lightning Network payments in partnership with Sati to provide you with access to instant, low-cost Bitcoin payments directly within the Xverse web wallet (https://portfolio.xverse.app/tools/lightning).
That means you’ll get a dedicated Lightning balance you can use for instant transactions with minimal fees.
There’s no extra steps to take: There’s no separate app to manage or configure. Lightning functionality is enabled seamlessly within Xverse, while balance management and recovery are handled by our Lightning partner, Sati.
At the core, you’ll be able to create a personal, reusable Lightning address. This address allows reusable payment requests while maintaining privacy overall. You’ll also be able to deposit and withdraw BTC to and from your Lightning wallet, easily and securely transferring funds between your Lightning balance and your self-custodied Bitcoin wallet when you want to.
This also means that you’ll be able to use all the quality of life improvements of standard Lightning wallets: sending funds via pasted invoices, scanning QR codes for addresses, easily receiving payments, and more.
This exciting new feature comes to the Xverse wallet as courtesy of our partner, Sati. Sati is a valuable player in the Bitcoin ecosystem that offers solutions for faster, cheaper, more user-friendly transactions.
Finally, this integration is an optional add-on. You don’t need to use it if you don’t want to, but it’s a useful way to unlock the potential of bitcoin for everyday transactions. Your main wallet still serves as the secure, self-custodied home for your assets.
What Is Lightning Network?
The Lightning Network (LN) is a Bitcoin Layer 2 payment protocol that enables instant, ultra-low-cost Bitcoin transactions through the use of off-chain, peer-to-peer payment channels.
They work by users opening a channel and locking a certain amount of bitcoin onto the network; they can then use that amount to pay for things and/or send to other users within that channel indefinitely, for as long as the channel is open. Once it’s closed, the change is recorded on the mainnet.
In the meantime, the channel uses a ‘mini ledger’ to record the changes, which it then submits to the blockchain itself. The individual transactions don’t have to be approved by all the nodes in the blockchain, which is why BTC transactions on LN are lightning-fast and cost almost nothing.
Looking Ahead
With the Lightning Network integrated into our wallet, you can use your BTC to pay for everyday purchases with merchants who accept it and participate quicker and more actively in the BitcoinFi economy (rather than just HODLing).
As the home of BitcoinFi, we’re consistently pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and redefining what you should expect from your gateway to Bitcoin Web3.
Aside from using our self-custodial Bitcoin Web3 wallet, you can also follow our social media channels to learn more about the different ways in which we’re shaping Bitcoin’s future as a fully programmable, multi-purpose decentralized financial infrastructure.

Important Notice
Lightning functionality is provided by Sati as a custodial service to enable fast and low-cost Bitcoin payments. Lightning balances are managed by Sati and are separate from your self-custodied Xverse wallet. Transactions on the Lightning Network are irreversible, and availability may be subject to network conditions, operational limits, or compliance requirements.
